Scripter Ranks Proposal

Do you think that Local Scripters are undeserving of the rank? There's a handful of top notch local scripters that I feel are deserving. In some cases, I feel that some of the local scripters have better products than the current SDN Scripters.

they don't deserve the same rank as people who have to maintain scripts on the SDN, so no.  Create a new group for exceptional local scripters

SDN Scripter

Local Scripter

SDN&Local Scripter

Script Developer

Idk I think that's better tho.. jus my opinion YOLO

There are a lot of scripts that are local that are better than sdn scripts.

that doesn't mean they get maintained.  They are not held to the same level of expectations as SDN scripts.  Th3 is a great example, when he released his scripts(GDK, rune crafter), they were awesome and some of the best.  but they aren't maintained anymore.

Completely agree with these. A lot of local scripters need recognition which they aren't getting and the SDN does get a lot of recognition compared to local. I support the new local scripters rank idea

That is why you don't get it for an "awesome" script you get it after a month of maintaining your script consistently and the admins script manager go over their dedication. The sdn has nothing to do with maintaining scripts, toph and stark both for example.

What's exactly the difference? The names are misleading. Script "Developer" is someone who develops scripts and a Script "Writer" is someone who writes them.

I would suggest:

Official Script Writer

and

Script Writer

i just don't understand your objection to a local script writer rank

On second look at this "Script Writer" and "Script Developer" seems redundant.

I fully support the idea of even local script writers to have the Script Writer rank, as the term "Script Writer", shouldn't just pertain to people who write scripts on the SDN, however everything past that needs to be reworked to something besides "Script ___".

I don't find the names to be meaningful as all script writers are script developers and vise versa. If you want to give the rank to local scripters make a new PiP, as they aren't held to the same standards. Also, spreading out the script managers time even more is not beneficial.

For this particular proposal, no support.

What would be some good alternative name suggestions? I think SDN Script Writers + Local Script Writers should be combined however.

I still stick by my idea.

You can apply for Script Writer. Or if you're a Script Writer, you apply for Official Script Writer. And if you don't have any scripts public, then you don't get any rank since you don't write scripts. A "scholar" type rank for people like @Brainfree and @harrynoob who show exceptional skill but don't necessarily have scripts should be given as well.

Please, getting a script on the SDN requires minimal knowledge.

This ^

"Script Writer" should be a generic term for people that write scripts. Upon uploading a script to the SDN the individual should receive the rank immediately, and for people who just write local scripts an application should be developed where people can apply. As for anything past that like my previous post said anything with "Script" in the name is redundant and should be reworked to just account for programming knowledge as a whole, just like the renowned "Scholar" rank on other sites. Again, this should be available for everyone to apply for.

I don't really mind and I don't think it will devalue the current sdn scripter rank because plenty of local scipts are amazingly well done.

I guess it's only fair to reward the exceptional local scipters.

In the end It's more work for you tho (going through the local scripts to find exceptional scripters), I'm not against this idea.

And btw...

Your constant desire for improvement has been noted and is well appreciated ;)
