I've made this post because I'm really getting tired of reading posts made by people complaining about @Alek. Many of the people posting don't have a good idea of what they are talking about. From the perspective of a scripter, here is what I see:

 

@Alek is a Script Manager. His job is mostly to manage the SDN, to push updates, to review for malicious code, etc. This means that most of his work is at the backend. I repeat, most of his work is at the backend, not on the forums. Just because he hasn't made that many posts or doesn't come online as often does not mean he is not active. @Alek has been hard at work trying to fix up the SDN.

 

The scripters of this community all feel the positive influence he's had on the community. And for the rest of the members, be thankful that @Alek is managing the SDN, because he's the one streamlining the updates. We've all seen your complaints about how slow updates were in the past. @Alek is here to fix that.

 

As for the @Smart vs @Alek debate, @Alek is a script developer. It makes sense that he'd be the one to manage SDN updates. While @Smart was an excellent moderator and deserved a promotion, @Alek is still a better fit for the position that he filled. When I first saw @Alek was promoted, I was surprised, but I have since come to understand the value of his promotion, and I now fully support it.

 

Keep it up @Alek !

My focus is primarily on Scripters/SDN/OSBot systems/tools. However I will try to help anyone who is having general problems, or at least send them in the right direction.

 

Edit: I also have no control over promotions, demotions, staff positions, ranks, or manning positions. This is between Maldesto, Laz, Maxi, and Zach, as they are the Administrators.

 

I'm sure smart could of done the job alek did. It doesn't take a advanced java coder to detect code is malicious. What's done is done. I just don't think alek was worthy of the promotion.

Zach said he isn't involved much in the forums :P you'll do a fine job mate only thing is that the whole community wanted to see Smart as an admin.....

To my knowledge, Smart doesn't know any Java. If you were a boss, would you remove a great mod from the forums, make them learn java, and promote them to script manager, or take a highly knowledgeable, experienced man who can do the job correctly? (Not saying Smart can't do the Job, just extraneous work is required)

I totally agree with this. At first I was annoyed he got mod because it didn't seem like he deserved it but after all the time and hard work he's put in I couldn't ask for a better Script Manager.

It's how everyone is. This is normal behavior for someone. It has happened before for previous promotions.

As someone who isn't involved at all, it looked like a good promotion to me and it seems as if he's doing a good job.

I don't know why the fuck everyone's crying about @Alek... I haven't witnessed his diligence but I'm pretty sure hes do a great job. 

Everyone can STFU about Alek. He stays in touch with the scripters and makes sure we've got everything we need. Plus now with the Scripters' Union anything we need can be voiced in that section. I love what OSBot did with the new managers and mods.

You will notice that most of the ones complaining are not script writers and have no idea what Alek is doing behind the scenes with the script writers. The only ones I see complaining are the ones that think they could have been the script manager or people that wanted smart because he was the best mod we've seen to date. 

Alek is doing a fine job. Don't know why someone would complain.
