AMD is great NEW, but most people spring for older Xeons (I'm going to assume he's using Dual Socket Xeon 2695v2's), which are about $200/ea, because they'll still trump an AMD chip for a lot cheaper.

I forgot. Please tell me your 28 cores are Intel and not AMD. CPU will likely be your limiting factor in most cases.
