Dedicated Scripting Team

Featured Replies

I really made this thread because I have to do something that the staff team is not going to do (and I really have to apologize for this).

Everyday I get people in the chatbox, as well as the forums, asking for script recommendations. I can only really list a few, and most of them are premium.

The Issue:

I think the biggest issue with OSBot right now is a lack of an abundance of quality scripts.

The funds for OSBot are generated by people who pay good money for features and scripts.

However, lately I have noticed that the products within the store and local scripts are not appropriately complimenting the Sponsors/VIPs as well as the normal members.

For example, there is no (good) working AIO Woodcutter, which is one of the most basic skills to make a script for. This could mean one of the following:

  • Nobody wants to release their private script, for whatever reason
  • There is no incentive to doing so

Keep in mind, that I am in no way bashing OSBot and/or it's development team & beneficiaries. I'm simply pointing out what I believe is a flaw and should be corrected in order to maintain our status as the best Oldschool Runescape bot.

I think that for this issue (lack of quality scripts) to be corrected, one (or multiple) of the following methods of correction should be put into place.

My first thoughts on how this could possibly be corrected would be to have the development team (@Laz, @Maxi, and @Zach) develop scripts for use on OSBot. However, I quickly realized that they have their hands full with the development of OSBot 2.

Suggestions for Fixing:

  1. Hiring a few outside scripters that have a good working knowledge with Java and pay them a good amount for quality scripts. They could take requests from the development team as well as the community. The scripters would be paid per script sale (on their premium scripts) along with a flat monthly rate.
  2. Simply offer to pay more, or a flat monthly rate, for quality scripts to be developed frequently by offical script developers (like Alpha Team).

You can also give suggestions on how you think this should be achieved, if you decide that this is in fact a pressing issue.

End Goal:

I think the end goal would be to have a very wide variety of quality scripts for use, both paid and free scripts.

The Outcome:

If everything works out perfectly, the ideal outcome would be the following:

  • More users
  • A variety of good scripts
  • More profit, leading to more features

Please tell me what you think, give me feedback, and if you have any suggestions regarding any part of the thread then post away.

tl;dr - Not a lot of quality scripts out, bring in scripting team to fix this

YES! This would be amazing... revolutionary

also selling this post for osgp pm me pls

or just allow the sales of private scripts because people waiting to upload to sdn for months is stupid.

if everyone could have the option to sell the scripts they make the market would be booming.

i heard the sdn also takes wayyy to large of a cut per script i heard it was like 70% lol. << stupid amount

I doubt the admins will pay people to develop scripts if the admins get paid when the scripters sell the scripts. I do know the admins do pay for client development.

made a woodcutting script recently if I am not mistaken.

This would BE GREAT! Cuz I sure need some good scripts. The scripts Im looking for are either broken or has many bugs. So this would help out a ton.

i've got a script in the sdn request for like over 4 days no response yet... this wait even for a reply....

^^^^ its just plain silly...

Kokei's Chopper works fine, just to point that out ^_^

Also it's hard to believe that @Maxi is active considering he hasn't visited the forums for 2 and a half weeks...

Kokeis has been broken for most users for 2+ weeks.

i would like to join the team plz

Good idea but we need admins online to push our scripts to SDN since raf. can't and he's the only one online......

Only solution to this issue is giving Rafelsia uploading powers or appointing someone else. Sdn wait time is killing scripters as it takes forever to get your script uploaded.

Raf needs more power, and another admin with equal power to raf in another timezone.

Also this is just embarrassing....

This would be a great idea, or like others have been suggesting, just getting current scripts into the SDN faster

Support and before people shoot this idea down it'll make osbot more money.

Release free, VIP/Sponsor and paid scripts. But don't go overboard with paid scripts. The goal should be gain more community members rather than profit - in the long run osbot will make a profit from this though.

Great idea.
