Dedicated Scripting Team

Featured Replies

Although this sounds wonderful, some of us just don't know the HOW. I'd personally love to write scripts, but I don't know Java. I have the attention span to learn it and make a good script, but I don't know how to learn it. I only know html (not a programming language really), Basic (still nothing there) and just yesterday I started in on Simba. But I'd love to learn Java and make a beautiful script.

Take a look at my recent tutorial to get started.

Although, I'd suggest a Java course first.

I like the idea but this would be very hard to implement.

It would require a lot of extra administration to note who has done what and when + how long they took to do it.

How exactly would they get payed.

Will it really improve the script quality level ? ( I know that a lot of scripters are working hard on complicated scripts but it just takes a long time to finish these projects)

And that is why you would not be a part of this more advanced scripting team.

To start for basics I'd recommend picking up a java book.

I like this idea. I think one thing this community could benefit from would be more scriptwriters working together, instead of in competition. Yeah, we all have a sense of team work in the help section, but this thread hit the name on the head, we need more scripting Teams. More people, more quality work, and alot faster releasing of quality scripts. No, we wont have 500 scripts on the sdn, but we need to be willing to sacrifice quantity for quality. THATS what will keep this community going.

I think it would be a good idea to "employ" community members as well as script writers. One of the main reasons I think it takes so long for a script to be put on the SDN is because the admins just don't have enough time to be testing these scripts out.

What if there was a group of people willing to test out scripts. They would be required to run it for a certain amount of time and test out the script to its fullest potential before reporting back to the other members, who are testing out the same script, and provide feedback. A team "leader" could then decide from the feedback whether the script should be uploaded or not, and from there send the application to the admins.

This not only allows people to test out a script, but also saves the admins time. All they have to do now is look at the feedback provided from multiple users and decide from there what to do.
