next_god Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 My local gym replaced all of the power cages/squat racks with smith machines. I was just starting to really get into strong lits(OHP, Sumo DL, HBS)... I tried making it work with smith machines but since the 'bar' can only move upon 1 axis, it takes significantly less muscles to stabilize the load when moving. FUCK.

next_god Posted May 21, 2016 Author Posted May 21, 2016 2nd one is a lot safer and nicer looking. Safety is nearly irrelevant if you not what you're doing(e.g. maxing without a spot/using bad form). And nicer looking is arbitrary since I think the simplicity of a bar + a rack is better aesthetic wise.
