[Community Poll] Official OSBot Scripts

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

Just doing a poll for the community to see if this is something everyone is interested in. What would you guys think about official OSBot SDN scripts? Essentially there would be basic SDN scripts such as a Fisher, Woodcutter, Miner, which would be fully supported by the development team.

Pros:
1. Your script will always be there, you don't have to worry about the scripter leaving and your script breaking
2. Directly purchasing from our business instead of through a third-party

Cons:
1. Scripters can sometimes be more agile and offer more features
2. Scripters are more likely to engage in free trials and other promotional offers

OSBot would only release a suite of basic scripts, specific scripts such as minigames, quests, gold farming, would still be left to scripters. Any competitive scripts to OSBot's official scripts would still be on the SDN, but we would carefully review any new competitive scripts.

But why?

It seems our customers are very unhappy purchasing scripts only to find out that the scripter has left the community and their purchases just vanished into thin air. This would give customers a certain amount of protection which cannot be given by the current system.

Please post your thoughts below.

oboy that would be dope, it wouldn't be too much work for you would it? having official scripts might make you guys look better to ppl who google "osrs bot" and see osbot and will stay?

I still want to have diversity and give scripters a home, but on the other hand its ridiculous how a scripter leaves and their shitty static id scripts break.

I'd only support this if it doesn't take away any dev time for actually developing the client and what not - that'd be a pity, to be honest.

Wouldn't this also make it harder for upcoming scripters to get scripts on the SDN or would it not matter?

It would make it harder for them to get a competitive script on the SDN such as a woodcutter, miner, fletching, or fishing script. The current scripts in those categories would still exist though (provided they are still doing well).

Edit: Initially it would take us away a bit from working on the client, but we would drastically make up that time by having less management on the SDN.

ya, gotta get the opinions of the scripters on the sdn. they could help find a balance of how far to go with how many official scripts there are def have to keep it simple. too little is bad and too many is bad

Maybe it would encourage scripters to take on greater tasks aswell, as getting a script on the SDN would require a more complex script and be "a bigger achievement" than before.

110% support. So you don't end up getting bamboozled.

Would there be a lite/pro system?

I think it would be a good idea but some scripter 2+ might disagree because it'd hurt their script sales.

People will purchase official OSBOT scripts over random scripter scripts.

I'm all for it though :boge:
