  1. Apparently you have no understanding of what I'm talking about. Therefore I will let you amateurs think you know what you're talking about.
  2. Hello everyone, Well, it's getting to that time of year again when it's almost time to go back to college. I was thinking about the things I would have to do when I get back to be a tutor again this year, as they have added a few things. But I was wondering what I could do to still help everyone, even when I'm not physically able to. Combine that with my knowledge with developing websites, and you have an idea. I kept all my Technical Calculus 2 notes from last year, as that was my main section for tutoring. So, my plan is to upload the notes to the website, and even add in descriptions when necessary. Of course though, I won't just be directly uploading everything. There will be a system for it. Also, since this is for my school mostly, there will be a request page where one may be able to request physically seeing the notes and / or an actual tutoring session. However, that does not necessarily mean it has to be restricted to my school. Those details will be worked out, although I still have an idea for that. What I would like from you guys, and my reason for posting this here (other than to help you guys learn from me and the website), is that I would like to add your information to the website as well. Now, everything will have to go through me before it gets uploaded (and yes, you will get credit for your contributions). Pictures will be allowed, and of course it's best to provide descriptions / whatever is necessary. You may be able to do it in sections, etc. That will be determined on what you have, how you want it displayed, etc. I just edited a current theme of mine real quick, but I have half of the scripts ready for this. Anyway, post your ideas below. I'll be back later. The site is located at: http://schooling.cryptictest.tk (Yes, a free domain; why would I pay for a domain when I'm only testing stuff?) ** Updates ** -> Added a browse feature ----> I have finished the code that retrieves all of the information. Now, I just have to upload some examples from my collection of math work (Calculus), to show you what can and will be done with the website. * Working on a new theme.
  3. Just because that's how it should be, that does not mean that's how it is. Like I said, the reason WHY you quote everything is because it quotes the post data. What's the post data consist of? All of the other quotes. Therefor, either you would have to develop something yourself (in this case the OSBot admins), or the developers of IPB would have to do it. Good luck with that either way. That's not going to even be easy to do, let alone convince either party to do it. As for having a user receive a notification, it is possible. And actually, on my last botting forum, it was the whole emphasis of the forum. Not only could you tag a user, but you could tag a whole user group. Now, a quick search shows that IPB either doesn't have one, or it's a paid one. Either way, not my problem as I don't deal with IPB. Here's the link for that. http://www.forumleaders.com/threads/user-tagging-for-ipb.562/ That other forum, if I can remember right, used vB. Both vB and MyBB have built in (or in vB's case, a mod / plugin I believe) function that allows you to tag a user by doing @username. I can't remember if MyBB takes it as far as to be able to tag a user group, but I know vB does. Therefore, you can't say that it's impossible since I've dealt with it in two different forum softwares, paid and unpaid even. I'm not being "not open minded"; I'm simply giving you the truth behind this. And like I said, feel free to create that mod for IPB that would allow you to quote only what a user said and to exclude all the other quotes in his post. But, you would be the first person to do it. So, I suggest you learn the IPB API, among many other things.
  4. I guess you fail to read. If you did not happen to see it, my post said "The reason you quote other quotes is because that is the post". Meaning yes, you're going to get a million quotes. Therefore, like I said, don't quote the post at all and mention the user's name in your post (There is a way to make linking the user actually put a notification to that user). Or don't quote them at all. Or here's another option. Since you seem to be so smart with forums, why don't YOU find a way to fix it? Because the only way it's going to be fixed is if you find a way for the quote function to not take all parts of the post and quote it for your new post.
  5. It's clear you haven't been a part of many forums. Obviously, it's clear that you think you know more than I do. So, enlighten me. Please.
  6. The reason you quote other quotes is because that is the post. If you don't want to quote the other parts, then don't quote the post at all. Simply @their_name or don't complain. Or, quote the post and delete the unnecessary crap.
  7. This is true. However, what I'm saying is that they should be more active. Whether or not that means that contests can be held by individuals other than admins, well, that would be up to the admins to decide.
  8. What I meant by that, Sherlock, was that if you incorporate the users into things such as contests, it makes you look good for one. It shows the people that you're willing to give away / whatever ............ I'm having troubles thinking of how to word it how I want. Lol. But anyway, in short, contests are good for the community.
  9. Honestly, what's the point of having a contest board if you rarely do contests? You should do more contests to make the users feel like you want them to be a part of the forum and the group that is OSBot. Not for them to just be using the service provided by it. Since, most of them are leechers anyway. (Go ahead and make your joke about me being a leecher, but I haven't even used the bot in well over a month). Contests are always good for a community, in short. * Possibly even allow user contests.
  10. Isn't Python a little bit old? I could be wrong but I think I heard somewhere that Python was more a of play around kind of language and not actually useful when it came to real world situations. I guess Google must be outdated then, huh?
  11. Never appeal to the nubs with IE. Ever.
  12. Thanks for this! When I get some spare time, I'll check out the videos. With my ability to code, it shouldn't be too hard to pick up Java.
  13. So yes, you do have to pay the $45 every 6 months to keep it because it's not a one time payment deal. Also, there are no advertisements anywhere, so that reasoning backfires. And I cba to pay for more than 1 membership, so I only need 1 tab anyway.
  14. Do you HAVE to pay the $45.99 every 6 months to keep your Sponsor rank, or the $9.99 a month to keep VIP? I was told that you pay once for the rank and you have the option of "donating" the amount on those periods.
  15. Picture? It's been up for about a week I think, so it's not your DNS.
  16. Haha, thanks? I think. :p I had crypticguides and crypticscene as well. I don't feel like buying a real domain or host until I figure out what I want to do. I mean, yeah I can afford it. But I currently don't do a whole lot with web development, so that's what I got. xD
  17. I'm not sure if this should go in this section or rather the Guide forum. It's not a guide, but an example of the usage of HTML and JavaScript. In any case, the example can be found at the URL below. http://www.cryptictest.tk/examples/webform/webform.html The form does not submit, it merely shows how JavaScript can be used to interact with the HTML webpage. If you would like to use the form on a website, just PM me and I can help you set it up.
