I'm using dharoks with gmaul as spec. Activating power surge, equipping gmaul and speccing is fine, but after power surge runs out it doesn't switch back to dharoks greataxe and uses gmaul as the primary weapon.

They weren't used as a means of catching bots, they were used as a means of trying to break bots (thinking bots weren't scripted to complete randoms). Like in RSC with the captcha's

This, except you won't get banned instantly, you actually have to bot it and then it will get banned fast. You can play legit on a flagged ip and won't get banned.

They were originally put in to disrupt bots, and have just remained in for years even while bots are capable of completing random events. Most people ignore/dismiss randoms so I'm not sure what you're worried about, the only randoms I do are the xp ones.

There's a bot detection system in place but it doesn't detect you're a bot because you didn't dismiss a random rofl

Chances of getting banned botting 1-2 hours a day is low, unless you're doing an easy to detect activity (like sudoku) It's your choice but next ban is permanent.

Doubt it would affect ban rate if you selected the bot to dismiss them, 95% of legitimate players hate randoms and will dismiss or ignore them, unless it's an xp reward random like the genie. In my opinion people overthink these things, you really think Jagex is collecting all this data on whether people dismiss/ignore or complete randoms while training certain skills/doing specific activities? The osrs team is really small and they don't have time for these things. Yes they catch bots, but not because of random event data lmao.
