Anyone recieved or know about who has had lasik?

My father got it when it first became and option in the US. He loved having it and he is just now needing to get readers for when it is late at night for reading or when he is driving. He is 50 now so thats about the age people start getting readers anyway. 

 

Im 21 right now and I'm for sure going to be getting lasik in the next few years. I have piss poor vision and I'm ready to have normal eyes.

Lasik is always a risk, but it is worth it.

My cousin got lasik and took him less than a day to recover. His only side affect is blurry vision the day after he was able to see.

I believe it is worth it, and so does my cousin. Planning to do it myself too but im young so no need yet.

The surgery I'm having is 1200 € ($1323) for both eyes. I found an offer on Groupon. Travelling and hotel adds some more, but that's still really good. They say the surgery itself isn't painful, but afterwards there will be irritation.

hey i had lasik eye surgery last summer.

surgery takes only 10 minutes but afther surgery your eyes will hurt like there is sand it. this pain will remain for 4 hours maybe. but the next day i was like woow i can see ultra hd 4k quality with my eyes.

i paid only 550euro in total including the check up if your eyes are able to be lasered. i had my surgery in Turkey.

my conclusion, its defintely worth it but first you need to do a check up of your eyes are able to be lasered.

Okay, I've now had the surgery. I'll write about it briefly.

 

Before the operation:

- You need to meet the requirements. Your vision needs to have remained unchanged for a set period of time (two years?). Also not have any illnesses that might prevent you from having surgery.

- Set up a pre-surgery check-up where they make sure your eyes are fit for the operation.  This is done by the same people who will perform the surgery.

 

The operation itself:

- The method they used is called femtolasik surgery. Many videos are found on YouTube about how it's done.

(- I had stuff done exactly like shown in the aforementioned videos. The only thing that was uncomfortable/hurt was a tool of some sort that they put over my eye. Imagine having a tea cup pressed over your eye very firmly. The pain wasn't unbearable and was short lived. No worse than being to the dentist office.)

- I had eyed drops put into my eyes just before

- They cleaned the area surrounding my eyes with alcohol

- I lay down on something that looked like a massage table with my head in the hole with my face facing up.

- They put pads and whatnot around my eyes.

- They put the tools over my eyes (this is where the tea cup pain thing happened)

- They inform me my vision was going to disappear, which it did.

 

- During the surgery I saw something like this: 

I had to focus on looking straight.

 

- Nothing was felt. There was a slight smell of laser burn though.

 

After surgery:

- I opened my eyes and could see the doctor and behind her I noticed the ceiling looked sharp.

- I was taken to a room to sit down and have my eyes closed for 60-90 minutes. I managed to sleep a bit.

- They gave me instructions on how to use eye drops and then let me go. I was advised to have someone accompany me. My wife was there to make sure I made it back.

 

Immediately afterwards I could see clearly, but my eyes felt weird somehow. There was no pain, just something that felt like having mild allergies. The day after I went to have post surgery check-up where they told me my vision has improved to not just normal, but up to 20% over normal. That day my eyes felt fine. Now 2 days later I kind of feel like I'm looking through lenses that are too strong for me, causing some eye strain and some head ache. My eyes will still be adapting for a while. Full recovery takes a month.
