I'd say they aren't reading their own minds, they just flipped thoughts. I think red, you think blue, I read blue, you read red. Just a switch:P Dunno if this was literal, rhetorical, or humorous. I went the literal route ;P

Interesting question, if people could read each others minds nothing would be safe. If people could read minds our world would change dramatically, either we'd invent some mandatory head piece so it'd block the ability to read your mind or you'd potentially turn yourself into a zombie, and.. think nothing.

 

It's a scary thought if you think about it in an every day aspect.
