I'm curious how most scriptwriters got their gig. Are most of you experienced with a language code before you started scripting? Which language helped you the most? If I have no school experience in computers but wanted to learn how to script, is this very difficult? 

 

Also once you learn how to script, does that give you an advantage in learning how to code other things in general with other languages? 

 

I just wanna understand this better so I can possibly make my own projects with all the extra time I have.

I learned how to script 1.5 years ago. 

I did code academy and then just did lots of practice on osbot and learned how to write scripts. 
Now I write my own automated farms

awesome, actually glad to hear from you since I've seen you around a lot and know you're notorious for the private scripts :p This might even be a little inspiration for me lol.

I learnt basic Java at the age of 14, I'm now 17 and still enjoy learning & writing in Java. There's tons of resources on the internet if you ever get stuck, but it's also a challenge to try solve your issues on your own. Would highly recommend starting right away

I first started learning at the beginning of the year with 0 experience, I took a look at the basics and a few guides every once in awhile. Wasn't hard to learn but was very daunting at the beginning.  Just dedicate some time into learning and most of all be persistent. 

I learned Java by myself 6 years ago by going over a RSPS source... From there I moved to loads of different things like c#, python, C, and webdev.
It is extremely possible to learn programming by yourself. Have fun with it, learn from your mistakes and keep taking on new challanges and you will learn in no time.

learned how to code BASIC with my friend (the code that TI calculators use) back in sophmore year of highschool and i havent stopped since. i am now learning computer science in college but i taught myself for a good 3 years and started coding scripts before college

yes

I learnt c# in college (for 2 years) and then c++/java from home.

Java is almost like c# so it was very easy to start scripting aslong as you understand the api.

 

I've not had any coding experience really, done a tiny bit of batch but never really got into it, im now starting to want to learn scripting and am looking at EXPLV's scripting 101 which seems really helpful
