How Safe/unsafe is botting?

Basically I'm curious, I started a new account about a month ago which got banned tonight. I didn't put any of my own time into the account because all I did was bot magic using a free alching script, So i'm really not bothered about it. I got 94 magic on it today just before it got banned.

My question is how safe/unsafe is botting?

Because 94 magic took me around a month, I didn't hammer the bot, It took many breaks, never botted over night. I stood in various locations, stood on 100's of players such as duel arena on the staking world etc.

But I still got caught. (Yes I know using free scrips is risky)

Do Jagex genuinely have a bot detection system or is it down to players reporting you? Just wondering encase I ever decide to bot again, probably won't as everyone gets caught eventually lol.

Thanks

They have an automated system but I'm not even sure if reports factor in all too much. When I used to bot my spot was pretty competitive with other botters so I used to go one by one through all my accounts and report each one I saw for a couple minutes. (I know, it's kinda scummy but if they get banned I make more money) Nothing ever happened, meaning I'd see the same names come through every day.

Back to your case though, if you were as careful as you were you probably didn't get reported. Honestly, if anyone was trying to look for alch botters at duel arena or the G.E. they're a white knight virgin that smells like shit. Anyways, you most likely got detected, and there are some steps you can take to combat against that but there isn't just a permanent method to not get detected quite yet.

All in all, botting is unsafe. I personally believe botting will always be detectable since the computer will do only what it's told to do, unlike a human that can come up with their own decisions. For example, you can't have a woodcutting script go kill vampyres unless you code it in and tell it what to do, unlike humans where if we want to go kill vampyres we just go do it. Because of this, computer's actions are usually extreme telegraphed making it detectable. You should only probably bot gold farming and just pay someone gold to train up an account legit!

They have a various amount of detection systems, botting will always be risky whether you think you're doing it safe or not, using free scripts can add more to the risk, but playing legit helps, not botting the same skill day in and day out, for the same amount of hours. Mix it up, do different things, play legit, do quests, do legit play of the same thing your botting can always help. Adding breaks in does help in a certain factor but it's still a 50/50 chance of a ban on any account you bot on. Whether it's your first time botting on it or the 1 thousandth time. Try even botting different skills on the same day if you don't want/care for the account. Talk while botting could help, but it's never really a known factor what will keep you safe or not. Just try your best on mixing everything up :) hope this helps, plus buy your scripts that would be my advice, they are less risky but still risky haha :)

I would recommend not botting where possible, e.g for alching you can use an autoclicker, or you could splash, etc. That way, on the off chance that you do get banned, it most likely won't be a macro major. Also please don't use an autoclicker like garys hood or w/e!

Why not garys hood?
