Decode
Of course. That's why you implement measures against it. Aka, punishments. Which is the exact same thing that's happened in real life. If you steal $50 from someone in real life, a punch to the face should be expected. Nobody will frown you for doing it. - Zappa That's completely true. So why is stealing $50 from someone online suddenly grants you a safespace and you can't be touched? It's literally the exact same thing. You're stealing $50. The only thing we can do to people online is fuck with them in real life, why's that so wrong? Because that isn't the "right" way to go about it. If you steal $50 irl you get prosecuted/imprisoned or whatever. Punishing someone yourself isn't right though. Pretty sure if you punch someone in the face for stealing $50 he can get you in trouble too. Nothing at all. That's why you take the registered email. 9/10 that registered email is going to be linked to one they have used somewhere else. Somewhere that has maybe had a database breach which is currently public (or private, soon to be public). How many of these 12-16 year old kids who scam know about propper opsec? How many of these kids can say "well, yeah, I can risk scamming these people they will never find out who i am hahah" Maybe, but will you really go do that to every scammer? Or will this only be towards the scammers you dislike personally?
Zappster
Maybe, but will you really go doing that to every scammer? Or will this only be towards the scammers you dislike personally? I've never been scammed on OSBot. I highly respected Pak Yak Scum before I did a little digging. I like this community, I enjoy the people and I will defend the people. Make a user group "Scammer Squad" and put me as the officer, I'll come down on these cunts like it's 1945. If you're on here to scam, you're on here to scam me and my friends. Are you sure that it will "only" affect the person in question and that it wont drag anyone else, who has nothing to do with the whole problem, in? For example, order some food to his place. That doesn't "Just" fuck with the guy in question.

If them stealing from you made you scared for your safety you can defend yourself. Whether you were at risk or not doesn't matter, only if you felt as if you were at risk. It's also more like, as it stands, if you scam someone the only thing that happens is an account ban. You can just do it again. If you get harassed irl, I'm sure you'd think twice

The emails should be there for another cross refrence against a scammer. If dox happens, it happens and OSBot shouldn't be responsible for that. So why should punishments from other sources be the same? They shouldn't There is a difference. It might affect others who are closely affiliated with you but in no way would being punished IRL due to something stupid such as stealing affect someone who has nothing to do with the whole ordeal. A simple phone call to the suspect can do wonders and can strike enough fear into someone to either 1. Think twice about doing it in the future or 2. Return the goods

Proper adults are against theft. If they know that their child and themselves are being harassed because their child stole - they will make them return it. Ordering food, for example, to a scammers house doesn't just affect the scammer or anyone who has anything to do with him. It affects people who have nothing to do with anything. And even then, when you have "harassed" the scammer for a bit. What have you/anyone else actually gained besides personal pleasure? Pretty sure the scammer wont be effected at all if you ordered some food to his house, it isn't hard to say i didn't order that and then get the food sent back. Worst case scenario is that his address gets blocked from food deliveries but that's about it.
