Juggles Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 (edited) Sometimes my computer randomly restarts after having my bots open for a few hours/days. I found a setting to disable my computer from restarting when it crashes so my bots can stay on.I just wanted to know if having this setting disabled is a bad idea or not. I'm not good with computers so I don't know much about this. Here is a suggestion I found. Edited July 10, 2016 by lg_juggles
Juggles Posted July 10, 2016 Author Posted July 10, 2016 Yes it's a bad idea, install linux for now Alright thanks. Just wanted to make sure before I changed any settings.
Hi G00gle Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 (edited) If it is hardware related, Linux is not going to help you. If it is software related, it probably will help you. Edited July 10, 2016 by Hi G00gle
liverare Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 Firstly, try to diagnose the problem for why the restarts are happening by getting the error code from the blue screen of death. If the problem’s a hardware fault, then I’d definitely keep the automatic restarts enabled. But if it’s your CPU overheating (overclocked+running endlessly), then look into a water cooler to try and mitigate that problem, or find time to let the CPU cool itself down. If the problem’s a software fault, go look for a downloadable fix online. You shouldn’t need to worry too much about software faults if your bots aren’t affected. However, Java has been the cause of BSoD's in the past for me. 1
Botre Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 Disabling automatic restart will prevent a computer from booting up itself after having shut down itself. It will not prevent the computer from shutting itself down. After a crash: Automatic restart enabled: computer is shut down, then boots up again. Automatic restart disabled: computer shuts down. You can't get rid of the shutting down with this setting.
Harry Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 I wouldn't suggest turning it off. Sounds like installing Linux from other users is the best thing to do right now.
