Yeah random char looks and actual username rather than random letters and numbers would be great. Maybe have the script try a name you know is taken like Zezima, so the suggested usernames come up and the script selects one of them. It's a a great script though

Anyway staff are usually good with this stuff, I think only certain staff have access to access to sensitive information like proof of purchase which might be why it's taking a little longer than usual.
