As many of you know I run a diesel performance and repair shop in real life.
Well this morning just found out one of my dear friends, who truth be told I wouldnt have been able to succeed if it wasnt for his account in the early days (Multi-millionaire owns a huge pipeline company, gave me his fleet account for all repairs) has been pouching all my top employees to start his own personal in-house mechanic shop (Cutting me out of repairs and doing them himself, which I can't blame him for wanting to do, but can blame him for trying to steal my top talent)
They are unaware I know, one of my best friends who introduced us is the one talking to my guys trying to get them to go work for his boss, (the business owner who I considered my dear friend)
I currently have 5 of their work trucks at my shop that I haven't gotten to yet, and I know for sure one of my top techs is going to leave to go work for them (They offered him almost double the pay)
I imagine a lesser man would be worried or concerned, and I would be lying if I said at first these emotions weren't ones I felt. But soon enough I realized this wasn't something to be worried about, its a challenge to be confronted. I am being tested, and every move I make for hear on out will decide how well I come out of this storm. His account is one of my largest (Six figures in revenue alone from him) so it's going to be a hit.
I figure I will fix his vehicles I have know, settle up on all the invoices, then tell him I am aware of his move, and wish him the best of luck. I've seen this move play out with other shops and most of the time it results in failure, so I plan on letting him learn from his mistakes. (That being said, he has more than enough money to take losses for many years)
But like I said...What a time to be alive
