tommied7 Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 Day 3 I downloaded the Learn Java app and have completed the first few assignments. I also ordered the book Head First Java on Amazon and it will be here tomorrow. Was the book useful?
Juggles Posted August 20, 2016 Author Posted August 20, 2016 Was the book useful? It is useful for the basics especially the first few chapters. I strongly recommend using CodeAcademy tho to get the basics down. It's a pretty fast course but it teaches you the basics to Java. If you want to go more advanced then I recommend the book
Qubit Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 Dope, but all in all you can only learn so much java from scripting..
Juggles Posted August 20, 2016 Author Posted August 20, 2016 Dope, but all in all you can only learn so much java from scripting.. Agreed you have to do other things to learn more. Watching videos and tutorials on java in general is useful if you are interested in more than just coding.
satyr Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 Agreed you have to do other things to learn more. Watching videos and tutorials on java in general is useful if you are interested in more than just coding. Those videos and tutorials don't really touch what I think is important most times. What one should really focus on is learning methodologies of software development, learning how to gauge software quality, learning how to conduct software tests, project management, etc.
Hpang Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 wow, had no idea you've only been scripting for less than half a year, been running your scripts they are great! time for me to have a crack at it!
