Anyone taking CS as a major in College? (USA) I heard it would butt fuck you in the ass and was one of the hardest majors ever. Is this true?

 

 

I really want to maintain a 3.7+ GPA. >(Med School)

What're the job opportunities for this major?

I'm currently going to a CC, & I still don't know what I want to major in, all I know is that I want it to deal with computers / technology

I'm a freshman doing a CS degree, getting a 3.7, at least at my school, would be extremely hard. It's a rewarding and fun major imo.

Next year I will hopefully be studying a Computer Science Degree here in the UK. As Yinz said, it probably isn't the same in the UK.

 

Can somebody explain to me how Uni works in the US, when you say major, does that mean you also take other subjects? And what does GPA mean?

Major is basically a concentrated field you want to pursue over a array of classes. You can major in other subjects as you wish, which is called double major, where you will earn two degrees after completion of four years at your university.

 

Four years through Uni = Bachelors degree

Two years through Uni = Associates degree

 

GPA is your grade point average, is the average letter grade averaged from all your clasees,  where on a scale between 1.0-4.0 coresponding to a letter grade.

 

Example: A = 4.0, A- =3.7, B+ = 3.3, D = 1.0 ect ect (as where i'm from)

 

Too lazy to go in depth, but some people say majoring in CS its easy; some say it's not. I want to know! ^_^
