Idea to replace the "SDN Script Developer" group

Featured Replies

I know most people aren't happy with the idea of this group, mainly because of the low requirements to get in and all the benefits it entitles. Instead of this I think it should be replaced with a "Premium Scripter" PiP/usergroup for scripters who have a premium script on the SDN. This should come with the usergroup, as having a premium script means you're making constant updates and you have a flawless script on the market.

Of course keep the "SDN Scripter" PiP if people like it, but a whole usergroup for it is a little extensive.

Having a premium script doesn't mean you update it. I'll update my script if it's broken which it hasn't yet and is also a free script.

Having it premium gives incentive. You're more likely to care and update something if your getting paid (or in some peoples cases not but that's another issue) as compared to if you're not.

Why am I an SDN scripter, but im not in the group.

Post in the scripter section in the thread that was made by Maldesto. He'll give you the gold name back.

This sounds like a pretty good idea to be honest, have a difference between free scripters and the higher quality scripters who are making consistent updates/quality scripts.

The only problem I can see this creating is the free scripter group would harbor some animosity towards the premium scripter group and could make some fellows unhappy that they didn't make the cut, the premium scripter group would need to demonstrate a high quality of skill and dedication if there is going to be a big gap in access/user privilege.

Entirely up to you folks and the admins if you wanted to feel something like that out.

That's why there's an "Official Scripter" group. The one I'm suggesting would just be for people who may not be the best at scripting but can at least write something of premium value.

I think it is fine how it is. The Official Script Developer group is for those who are renowned scripters and have responsibility to produce scripts for the site, and the SDN group is for everybody else.
