I feel like that’s something that people just say because it sounds like it makes sense. If everyone is using the same commands and the same api for their bots, why does it matter if you are the only one that has access to a script?

i would say so, but it's really not as big difference as most could expect + you would need scripter to work a bit harder or "anit-ban" part of script to make it legit unique in some way.

 

I say the less comon/used a script is the "safer" it is to use. However nothing is idiot-proof safe.

The biggest reason to go for a private script is that you can have it made for your specific desired scenario. Do you want a fully automated farm? You're not going to be able to do that by using the SDN whereas you're able to realise that by using private scripts.

Yeah since the more some script is used the more obvious pattern it has, so Jagex has easier flag.
