Jesus shit fuck balls. I just checked what my MSI 1080ti gaming x trio is going for on newegg. $1,449.99. I spent $749.99 on it back in early January. 

Moral of this story is buy a prebuilt gaming tower with a 1080ti. You can still find them with an 8700 for around $2200. Alienware, Asus, MSI, etc. Aren't paying what we are for their GPUs.
