I apologize for this newbie question. I was thinking about Botting on my WC alt while getting max on my main.

can my main get banned? 

 

or maybe i can use 2 different pcs. 1 is for botting and 1 is for playing legit.

I think it's to do with your ip and not your pc.

CAN still happen, chances are very very small though especially if they dont interact with each other

your main is not going to get banned even if your alt gets caught

 

this can only occur (very rarely) if you're mass goldfarming.

you're fine as long it's only the one account and you're not goldfarming

Not entirely no.

 

Few guys I know IRL shacked up together about 2 years ago. Well 2 of the dudes where botting multiple accounts like 4+, and the third guy never botted and just played his main normally.

One day every account on that IP was banned for goldfarming; including the main which hasn't been botted.

I know the evidence is a bit anecdotal but can definitely happen.

I have gotten chain banned multiple times.. Aswell as servicers botting other accounts on the same pc while servicing my account

No,  has not happened to me. And ive sinked like 20 accounts, 3-4 combat 90ish mains.

6-7 members, others f2p golddigger tests.

The answer is yes, IF you trade the gold to your main regularely for extended periods (Personal experience)

 

The chances are extremely slim though.
