IMO hallucinogens play an important role in life, I see them as medicines to be used for therapeutic purposes. A lot of people seem to do everything in their power to avoid dark/negative/uncomfortable trips, but, If one has unprocessed fears and traumas from the past, the medicine can then force you to take a good introspective look in the mirror to your self. It is often this reflection of ourselves that makes us freak out, our egos protect us from introspection on a day to day life and makes us blind to the error of our ways. Here I'll share this quote that conveys perfectly what it is I'm trying to say; "Meeting the shadow isn't a bad trip, waking up to the fact that you have been feeding it and living a life honoring evil is the bad trip, you ache with the revelation that your soul is in hell." -Browdean Mcnowski Amber Lyon speaks about the therapeutic properties of hallucinogens on Breaking the set, she starts of by talking about shrooms, DMT, then at the end she touches on MDMA/LSD vs PTSD and Iboga vs addiction
Psychedelics have helped me deal with my inner demons, helped me realize what an asshole I used to be (and probably still am, a little xD) and given me a different outlook on life. After everything is said and done I don't regret any of the trips I've had, positive or "negative".
