Would suggest reading more about bans and stuff as mentioned above. Then experiment with things and eventually bot to make profits. Last but not least buy vip, and make it rain!

I wonder what other wallets that can be trust-able now since we could potentially be compromised with a simple, "we got hacked".

Not sure, but did you restart the computer or the client after applying the settings?

Start>Right-click Computer>Properties On the left column, click Advanced System Settings. Click "Advanced" tab, under the performance area, click settings. You will see this. Select "Adjust for best performance" option and click apply. A fix that worked for me, give it a try.
