The whole "lightweight" argument is bullshit. It’s 2016, everything is served via a CDN and cached locally. Loading a huge JS framework is hardly a job for even mobile devices to handle. I’d much rather spend my time developing my product than rewriting production ready frameworks. On top of this you have things like Webpack to help prevent multiple resource requests, etc. I've heard great things about VueJS but never personally used it. VueJS is primarily for those that want flexibility while AngularJS is designed to easily support single page applications. Personally I prefer React + Redux as a nice starting architecture for my web projects but that's just me.
