Why does OSBot use more memory than XYZ Bot? Most bots set a jvm argument indicating the max heap space, "-xmx". This usually limits the jvm from going over a certain amount of heap space. At OSBot, we don't set the max heap space, we let Java naturally allocate the resources that it wants to. How much memory the jvm naturally wants should not be an issue, unless you are running a serious bot farm - which I know for a fact that most botters aren't. This matters because smaller heap space means that the jvm has to GC more and is usually more prone to memory exceptions. If you have 16GB of RAM, I'm sure you can spare 1-2GB unless you are farming. I set -mem in CLI bu…

As some of you have already seen, a new chatbox has taken the place of the old IPB one. This was not something that was decided on by the staff, but rather IPB themselves. On April 30, 2017 IPB is closing their chatbox servers and removing all the fancy features with it. A new chatbox, which is still under development, has been put in its place. There will be updates coming out to it, but in the mean time please keep all opinions and flaming to yourself. There was a lot of time and effort into getting a new chatbox up and running for everyone, so please be mindful. Thank you, OSBot Staff

Welcome all TopBot Members! It has been announced that another Oldschool bot is now closing. While it is sad to see a fellow bot close, we'd like to welcome the members of TopBot and give all of the TopBot users the easiest transition from TopBot to OSBot as possible for script writers, dedicated botters, casual botters and the community members. Feel free to introduce yourselves here and divulge into the community! TopBot Script writers read here: We will be expediting the script approval process for the next month to make the transition as easy as possible. Below are some resources to help you adjust to the script creation process on OSBot: Check ou…

Just doing a poll for the community to see if this is something everyone is interested in. What would you guys think about official OSBot SDN scripts? Essentially there would be basic SDN scripts such as a Fisher, Woodcutter, Miner, which would be fully supported by the development team. Pros: 1. Your script will always be there, you don't have to worry about the scripter leaving and your script breaking 2. Directly purchasing from our business instead of through a third-party Cons: 1. Scripters can sometimes be more agile and offer more features 2. Scripters are more likely to engage in free trials and other promotional offers OSBot would only release a …

Dear OSBot community, Since we migrated to IPB4 there have been a lot of issues with the bump topic plugin. One of the major issues was that the plugin only allowed people to bump one of their topics in a specified interval via settings in the acp. So to bypass this, we have been allowing people to bump their topics by posting "bump" on them. To resolve these issues we decided to allow posting to bump topics, and to avoid confusion we also decided to entirely remove the bump button. We soon realised that we didn't really have any specific set of rules in place for bumping since we used to be able to directly apply restrictions to the…

To start OSBot through command-line, open up terminal/cmd on your operating system. Ensure your working directory in command-line is at the location where your OSBot jar is located. For instance if you are on Windows and the jar is on your Desktop, then you must type "cd Desktop" first. For instance: If you are looking to only start OSBot through command-line to see detailed output, please use the following snippet: java -jar "osbot 2.4.145.jar" -debug 5005 You must edit the information inside the quotes to what your jar file is named. If you are in the wrong directory or you typed in an incorrect filename, you will get an error: "Error: U…

Seems there is an issue with connecting to the game servers. Whether you are on version .111 or .112, if you get a bot initialization error just keep trying to restart OSBot until it works. It's completely random and if the internet gods are pleased, you may be blessed with the game actually loading. Nothing much more we can do since this is not related to our services. Thanks!
