That's super dependant on what you want to do :P

In the beginning, play what you like, what feels good to you and something you can win with. Eventually, you'll be forced to learn meta anyways.

She can change form from human to a cat, chase people by pouncing after them and toss super deadly spears at people. Once you know her abilities p well it just becomes really fun to play her.
Oh and she can be AD and AP, whatever your game happens to need

Meta is what's 'normal'/'regular'/'good'

It's what's generally accepted to pick, build or do basically.

So lucian for example could be a 'meta' botlane, and a meta buildpath would be dorans>essence reaver>lucidity boots>static shiv>IE>mortal reminder/last whisper/BT>defensive item

DOTA is trash

A lot of people say you should try out Annie when first starting out but tbh I did and I found her very boring because she is not very mobile. Try the different champions that is on free rotation. They are all very different because some don't use mana and allow you to spam abilities such as Riven. Once you've found a champion you enjoy you can look at other champions that have the same playstyle like if it's a tank or a midlaner. I personally fell in love with assasins.
