Apologies I didn't get back to you sooner, for some reason I was unfollowed from this thread and didn't get a notification as a result. I've just investigated this issue and the cause of this is some API functionality which the script used has been removed from recent client builds. Anyway there could be a "select unicorn horns to withdraw" option like there is for cowhides? Oh - I hadn't realised this diary reward was a thing, and it looks like there isn't a way to disable this behaviour in-game...
