Cleaning a laptop screen

Featured Replies

I have a Macbook Retina and I would like to clean its screen.

Apple says you should only use water on a microfiber cloth to clean screens from apple products,

however this did not work as good as I hoped.

My question, do you have any tips? How do you clean your screens?

Is there a difference between a retina screen or a normal screen?

I have a cleaning spray for my glasses, should I try it with this one?

Thanks smile.png

My laptop screen is disgusting (lord knows what is all over it..) i tried cleaning with wet tissues once, that went badly wrong so avoid that :p

If you do use the cleaner, spray it on the cloth first

toilet roll works fine for me

With water or a glass cleaning spray?

Use a small amount of glass cleaning spray on a microfiber cloth. You'll be fine. I've had mine for 2 years doing this with no problems at all. Just make sure the screen isn't hot.

Without anything on it. Or just a dusting cloth, dry. Seems to do the trick for me unless you've got like dried pot noodles on the screen, in which case i'd employ a cat (or @RoomScape)

I use a microfiber cloth with glass cleaner, cleans off all the seme..... err dirt nicely.

I spray my screen with a screen sprayer and then wipe, cleans up nicely for me

i got special spray that i bought for monitor screens and any type of screens works perfect but try to search more in google

Can you give me the name of it please?

Simple warm soapy water has always worked for me, just avoid using anything abrasive, though I doubt you could scratch it with a rough cloth given my cat scratches the shit out of my screen and it remains perfect.

I use a damp paper towel and just wipe it.

Retina shouldn't mean anything as far as I'm concerned since you're not wiping the pixels, but the glass covering it.

And like someone said, if you don't have anything actually sticking on it, and just dust, just take a cloth and wipe it - maybe even blow your breath on it as you wipe, just like you would a phone screen.

If you have certain things stuck to the screen, a damp paper towel should suffice for most occasions.

Haven't cleaned mine in the 2-3 years i've had the laptop, i kinda just peer through the grime :)

Can you give me the name of it please?

well it is product from my country its called cleanIT for monitors, lcd screens plasmas..
