As for applications for Script Writers etc, OSD is obtained through applying for the position after showing consistency in updating your scripts ( You must have the SDN scripter rank ) which in turn is obtained by having a script on the SDN. I think the system for that is good enough at the minute. Doesn't mean you shouldn't apply, there will always be a need for applications if someone else were to step down or get demoted.
