Mikasa's Road To Better Processor

Featured Replies

Aiming for around $360 so I can be sure to have enough for shipping for the processor

I'm going to be achieving my goal through gold farming, hopefully.

Best of luck, isn't that hard of a goal depending how much you bot etc

Don't you need a fan with it so you can over clock it (unless you already have one). :P

P.S - I finally know where Mikasa comes from now.. Omg Erennn

I won't need to overclock it, but I already have a heatsink on my current one that will work on the new one.

My stock cooler was actually faulty and even with artic silver 5, i was getting temps ~80c. I had to resort to using an old  775 socket cooler.

Hopefully my current heatsink fits the new motherboard.

If not, I'm going to cry.

I think I have hyper 101 or hyper101i, can't remember :(

3770k is better at overclocking compared to the 4770k, but if you're not overclocking it to extremes (under water, etc) then I'd go with the 4770k. It's about 10% faster than the 3770k and has a few added instructions that are extremely beneficial to the processors speed and functionality

you can buy processors ohmy.png ?

how else do you think computers are made?

Would I get a lot more out of overclocking the 3770k than I'd get from 4770k normally?

My current processor is OC'd at around 4.3, & it stay fairly cool unless it's at 100%

No, I'm talking about speeds of 4.8GHz+, which yiou can't really achieve anyway without phase state cooling, liquid nitrogen, or watercooling with insanely high pump rates and massive effective cooling area on radiators

Also, which processor do you have? 4.3 is a pretty ambiguous number if I don't know what model it is. 4.3GHz on AMD architecture is about equal to 3GHz on intel's latest architecture (results may vary)
