Featured Replies

I will be looking to buy a ford crown vic starting this summer., model will be the police interceptor, tinted windows throughout with a spotlight and etc, lots of other cool toys and what not.

Anyone ever own one before or know anyone who owns one or know anything about them? Pls post any expertise/opinions if the car is a good or bar car and why please.

Looking to do some fake pull overs to get the ladys?

Of course not, I won't have any lights on it LOL any blue/red lights is impersonating an officer and that's a felony... I aint trying to go to jail for years cuz of some stupid lights bro.

Maybe add amber lights on it for emergency situations :P

But honestly doubt I'll add any lights but overall it's a really nice car I think and would look dope with tinted windows all black car and stuff or w/e and spotlight people think you're a cop or w/e and switch lanes a lot lol

any police vehicle is used and abused. That's why they get rid of them <100k miles. I'd be questionable about the reliability of the car. Remember, people drive it like they stole it if it's not theirs. Personally, I'd stay away from police cars and loaners/leases

As long as you get it in good condition and keep it in good condition, I bet one of those tanks will stay running for a long time.

Condition is more than how it looks on the outside. Much of the damage could be located in the suspension and underbody of the car

Also, make sure you inspect the seals on the engine - valve cover gaskets are usually a spot that starts leaking oil. No need to check the head gasket, cause that's pretty noticeable without checking. Assuming it has a center cam in the engine, you can check the cam seal.

Generally if you see a lot of black shit in the engine bay, stay away. (run your finger through it, if it's greasy it's oil, if it's not, you're fine)

I'd also check the antifreeze to see what color it is. If it's a blackish color than it's never been maintained. It could be any color from green to red, and generally speaking, the brighter it is in color the newer the fluid is.

Check the oil to see if it's black or thick (usually not an issue, but you never know).

Specifically check the dipstick for any metal fragments in the oil. Rub the oil between your thumb and middle finger to feel if there's anything rough in it. If there is STAY AWAY. More than likely, something in the engine has had its oil passage clogged and is not rubbing, making metal fragments in the oil.
