Ear Infection

Featured Replies

Woke up today with a gnarly ear infection, pulsing like crazy. Since I'm 21 and don't have insurance I don't really want to pay money out of pocket, I am wondering if you guys know of any at home remedies for ear infections that I could try mellow.png

If it is an ear infection on the outer portion of the ear (still inside the hole, just not deep), pour alcohol into it and let it kill the impurities for around five minutes flat. If you feel it deep inside your ear, and it is causing you a headache, you will have to go to the doctor and buy antibiotics in order to cure it.

Goodluck, I hope you feel better soon! :(

Thanks bro. I think I fall into this one wacko.png

Watch the patient for severe ear pain followed by no pain at all. This could indicate the eardrum has ruptured. In addition to the absence of pain, the patient may have drainage from the ear.

  • Ruptured eardrums can result in temporary loss of hearing. They can also make your inner ear more susceptible to infections, making the situation even worse.
  • Although ruptured eardrums usually heal within a couple weeks, even without treatment, some problems may persist, necessitating medical intervention.

It feels like it's not that deep, all my sound is muffled in that ear and I can feel the pressure.. What kind of Alcohol are you talking about though?

>.> have you gone swimming lately? If so it is probably swimmers ear. Else go mix vinegar and h2o2 50/50 and dip it into your ear. You will hear it crackle and sizzle. Eventually it will stop and you turn your head and rub the outside of the ear. The liquid will come out and you should feel better. DO NOT FINGER YOUR EAR.

How do I know? I get swimmers ear almost every month. Another thing, do not stick anything into your ear besides a q-tip. The problem with q-tips are that people stick them like all the way in to the inner ear canal.. Do not do this, just swab the outer canal.

You could use hydrogen peroxide

You could use hydrogen peroxide

It is often better to use that mixed with vinegar or that with water. Just so it is not raw, the vinegar helps cleanse the scratches if any.

Hopefully it passes by on it's own (if that's even possible). I've been very sick atm and the fact that my best friend past last week isn't giving me the motivation to try and get better, :L.

Don't listen to these stupid ideas with ear drops and so on.

If you have your middle ear swollen, you will have to get antibiotics and as soon as possible. After taking them for about a week your ear should be fine, unless you hesitated for too long, then you may risk some trouble. If your outer ear is swollen, it's not that hard to overcome it, is it. And no, you don't need any doctors, hospital or anything.

Go ahead and do some research on what swollen middle ear is, but just for the heads up, if there's a yellow liquid pouring out of it, if it hurts, if you lost some hearing,.., then it definitely is it.

Can't believe I'm helping somebody with such avatar, but hey.

Are you not required to have insurance in your country?
