Here is that page if some of you didn't click

I'm having trouble finding out if my system can use/run with 16gb of ram.

I currently have this: 8.00GB Single-Channel DDR3 @ 666MHz (9-9-10-24)

I used Crucials System memory scanner to find this:

Memory Type: DDR3 PC3-12800, DDR3 PC3-14900, DDR3 (non-ECC)

Maximum Memory: 16GB

Currently Installed Memory: 8GB

Total Memory Slots: 2

Available Memory Slots: 1

I have 2 slots. I have 1 available My HP support person said this though. when I was asking what kind of timing I should get.

2:24 PM DARSHANA: I would like to inform you that the system supports 12gb but you can use and try 16gb but the system has not been tested using 16gb.

2:24 PM William Luttrell: Hmm

2:25 PM William Luttrell: So

2:26 PM William Luttrell: You don't know if it can use/run the entire 16gb of ram

2:26 PM DARSHANA: According to the specification the system supports 12 gb of RAM.

But Crucials scanner said it can support up to 16GB of ram. Does anyone know the answer to this? It would be very helpful As I don't want to buy an 8gb ram if I can't use it all, waste my money..... The DARSHANA HP support Assistant says it may be able to, but hasn't been tested???

I'm just REALLY confused as the custom support rep didn't really tell me much. Other than it hasn't been tested with 16GB So I'd assume the motherboard/computer could support 16GB. Any suggestions?

Current computer::HP Pavilion TS 15 Notebook PC

Model: 216B

Thanks.

If you have 64 bit version of windows, then I don't see why it wouldn't be supported.

Yes I do have 64bit Windows 8.

Well don't some motherboards not support 16? The lady said max is 12 but crucial said 16. and another guy posted on the hp forums saying surely 16gb

find out what MOBO you have and google it to see the max ram supported for it.  That would be the only limiting factor

if you bought your computer look up the that specific build then get the mobo.  if you built it yourself, you should know what the MOBO is lol

Download this, it will show you your CPU GPU motherboard and specific details about those pieces of hardware.

And most 64bit capable motherboards will support 16gb of ram.

The tech was just going by what was in the books and probably is forced to read or type by a script. Meaning they CANNOT normally say something that their logs or knowledge bases don't say. You will be fine with 16GB. Just make sure you order the EXACT same type of RAM (to avoid any potential error).

Okay I will.

does the timings matter ? 9 9 10 24 and a 9 9 9 24?

I'm getting another 8gb same speed and all.

I don't get that, is that from your computer...? If so, it's telling you that you can upgrade to 16gb..
