Is integrating the logger into the canvas necessary? I find it quite hard to debug any code that works with tabs, dialogues or widgets in general, I don't think anyone had issues with the old logger. I mean we can obviously debug scripts using the CLI debug flag, but why do we even have a logger if not for debugging?

Did you press F9?

Yes, I opened it both with F9 and the toggle logger option, is it supposed to appear outside the canvas when using one of these?

No, it should just make it easier to toggle on and off. If it's inconvenient just open OSBot up from cmd/terminal.
