Death

Featured Replies

I believe that our soul separates from our flesh and we are kind of just watchers now of the world.

It just scares me to think there's nothing after death because of how short life is if you realize it.

I dont know why everyone is like "life is short" because it's like the longest thing I have ever experienced

It actually is. You or I could be dead in the next 5 minutes.

I believe that nothing happens when we die.  We just shut off so to speak.

Does it scare me? No not really, I won't be aware of it.  I'm more scared of suffering up to the point of my body shutting off.

I do find that life is extremely short. I find that thinking that there is nothing after death it is quite scary and I for one can't handle it. (call me weak)

I cant agree with this more, its become so scary to me that I have an actual phobia of dying

what she said was true though, it will always be the longest thing you experience

Heaven is the moments before you die knowing that you did right by your fellow man and lived your life to its fullest.
Hell is lying there dying knowing you caused harm, cared only about yourself in life, and that people will remember you in a negative light.
I suppose if one had a twisted mind and believe that he did right by raping, murdering, and other evil acts that he could achieve "heaven". Just my opinion on it.

As far as your  body I think your body goes into the ground, rots, stinks, and is pretty disgusting lol..
Or you burn into ashes and people keep you in there living rooms unsure.png

I don't believe there is an afterlife, how would I know? I've never been dead..
It's like someone saying I saw santa clause.. How do you prove them right or wrong?

When I die wrap me in a burlap sack and throw me in the woods. Let nature claim my body in whichever way it may.
We come into the world a product of nature and we leave a product of nature.. or bear poop :D

When you die, your consciousness ceases to exist (as the neural pathways in your brain are no longer firing, and their group activities are what form who you are), and your body remains wherever it is, and decays, or is incinerated, recycled, etc.

Humans are simply complex reactions that abide the laws of physics like anything else - be it atoms, microbes, other animals, planetary ecosystems, solar systems, galaxies, or the universe itself. Even free will, the greatest argument for us being something more, itself is an illusion; you will always accept the position most favorable to you, even if you think you are acting in a way that is poorly suited to your interests.

Couldn't agree with osbcf anymore. I study physiology and it really is as simple as your body ceases to maintain the equilibrium that it was once so great at achieving. Think of when you work out, your body automatically knows you need to stay cool so your sweat glands produce sweat to cool the body down. As your body deteriorates it struggles to keep this going. Same as when you die, the brain is no longer receiving the oxygen it needs to maintain a healthy environment. However if your heart stops beating first you could say that the person has died, however there is probably a 5 second window where the brain is still functioning. At a very minimal level anyway. It is maybe here that you could experience a dream perhaps of being in a paradise? Who knows by this point it's too late to gather any significant proof but that's what I think anyway based on what people say when their heart stops and is manged to be restarted again; without any significant brain damage that would alter the result.

We are all organisms existing our of flesh and blood. We have organs that help us live and a brain that makes us function in the way we do. Just like every other animal. I think it's weird when people talk about death and leave out animals. The only thing that makes us different than they are is that our brain is bigger and capable of greater thoughts (like the philosophy about deah).

Our brain makes us "think" and "feel" the things we experience but this is not something seperate from the body. The thoughts you get are connections made in your brain neutrons activating other neutrons. When we die this process stops so you won't experience anything anymore. The last thing you will experience is the most amazing DMT trip anyone could ever imagine. After this, there will be nothing. No more thought and no more experiences. Why would you think that your spirit leaves your body and travels around ? What is your spirit ? How do you know you HAVE a spirit?

I think there is nothing when you die. This is not sad or something to struggle against. The only sad thing about death is that it will affect the people around you. They will experience your death and they will live on without you. Wether they believe you go to a nice place called heaven, get reïncarnated or just stop living will not change a bit for them (they might find it easier to live on when they believe that you are in a better place but that is just a fantasy that they thaught themselves).

Eh, it's hard to say what I believe in happens when you die because there are so many different possibilities to believe in or not believe in that I just believe in things that make sense to me. It's not something I can just say hey, I believe this this and this because I could just type paragraphs, and for that reason I'm not going to post what I believe in. It's a discussion thing for me. So many possibilities, interesting to discuss.

I do believe in ghosts though, and I think that if you live a life of unhappiness, or a sudden death like a car crash or if you got shot that your spirit will be unhappy and seeking happiness. That's why I think ghosts haunt people, is because they have died an unjustified death or lived a life of unhappiness, and seek life. I also do not believe in God, heaven, or hell.

When you die you are dead. Nothing happens.
