Not even close to being truth. There's a gaming CPU's capability, and rendering capabilitiy. Intel is more viable, can be overclocked VERY much, (in my case, i5 3570k, 3,4 GHZ -> 4.5 GHZ per core), they generally are less likely to fuck up compared to intels... I'd personally only consider AMD if not looking for a gaming PC, but one for a work (rendering).

When you're choosing a gaming PC, you do not even consider AMD or Radeon... Geforce and Intel i5 - i7 is the way to go.
