Yes, it detects Magic shortbow (i) for both normal weapon and spec weapon just fine.

I tried using a magic shortbow (i), but it doesn't seem to use it's special attack when power surge is active. It's not a big issue but fixing it will help the xp rates while using a magic shortbow (i). I have no idea if the normal magic shortbow has this issue.
