I'm currently working with a team as a Concept Artist on a big project. I've been asked to produce a shield and so I went with this:

 

Hope you guys like it too, i couldn't be too bothered with designing the shield holder as it's not too necessary.

looks good ^^ only thing i can suggest is adding a bit of shadow of some sort to these:

 

Just looks a little flat :P (i could be looking at it wrong )

Are you only referring to the back side of the shield? if that is the case then yeah I do agree with you.

I think it still has a kinda flat feeling and it's too clean; a real shield would have scratches; dirt etc.. Just my two cents.

I did add scratches and stuff, but prob needs more.

Yeah, add some rusty effects to the metal, make it look like it has seen some fights already
