June 19, 201411 yr Ive been dying to get a turtle a small one Does anyone know how much it costs all together + monthly basis? past +present turtle owners please help
June 19, 201411 yr Administrator Turtles are really a commitment they live a long time. Don't get a tortoise unless you have a huge yard or a huge shed/garage that you can make its home. I'd recommend a box turtle or something easy that just eats greens. They aren't exciting, they aren't fun, they are cute and do a whole lot of nothing. It isn't like having a lizard or a snake. You can't really hold it and play with it a lot. Depending on your location you can go find one in 30 minutes.

June 20, 201411 yr Administrator Its just something I want to look at and touch. Are they expensive though? No, depending on what kind you get, if you get a tortoise it's like 100-300 for a baby. A regular box turtle you can find or buy from someone cheap online for 25 bucks. They eat greens, and greens aren't expensive, so pretty easy to care for.
