When someone says "I'm gonna go ride my bike" do you think of bicycle or motorcycle?

  • Author

bicycle

So for a motorcycle you would say "I'm going to go drive my bike"?

No, It would still be I'm going to ride my bike; howerver, saying motorcycle would be the correct way to say it without confusion.

It depends on who says it, if a 15 year old kid says then its probably a bicycle, if a 30 year old man says it its probably a motorcycle.

That is being ageist or w.e you call it lol.

You never seen a 15year old kid ride a motorcycle?

Nope. Very uncommon as the lowest age to drive is 15 with a learners permit. (e.g you need a parent in the car with you)

Depends on who is saying it, in general I think bicycle.

Not every country has the same rules, you got to think out the box.

Anyways, grammatically, how would you interpret it, without seeing who is saying it.

I'm fairly close to 30 and when I ride my bike (bicycle) all the time. I know plenty of ~30+ year olds who ride bicycles. Road bike riding is a fairly popular sport.

Grammatically I would think they meant bicycle but if they have a motorcycle I would think that. Simply because everyone where I lives calls their bicycles their bike and motorcycles their motorbike or motorcycle :P

If its my 5 year old niece, I think bicycle, if its a guy from work I'd say motorcycle.

What would you interpret it as if it were on the internet or somewhere where you can't see the person who is saying it.............
