Obesity is now a disease

Featured Replies

According to the American Health Association, obesity is now classified as a disease.

In the world, the number one country in terms of obesity rate is the United States. 33.7% of all Americans are obese and this number is only increasing. The only state with an obesity rate bellow 20% is Colorado.

What do you think the best solution to the global obesity epidemic would be? Do you think obesity should be classified as a disease?

Should not be a disease, it is lack of self restraint. I suppose they give obesity this title so that people will feel better about the way they are. The best solution to obesity would have to be exercise and self control when it comes to food. Because if you eat good food it makes it that much easier to lose weight on top of working out and excising.

Cool conversation. :p

I'm lucky tbh I have a high metabolism (something like that) so I don't get fat. I haven't had a fruit or vegetable in like a year (no joke) all I eat is pizza lmao. I have a 6 pack somehow o.O

Word :p . I have an extremely unhealthy diet and yet I haven't gained a pound.

Colorado is the least because of Marijuana, maybe america should makeMarijuana like a vitamin LOL

I think most people misunderstand what a disease is. A disease is an abnormal condition that effects the body of an organism. So being morbidly obese fits the definition.

Best solution for obesity? Non that wouldn't violate my own views on free enterprise.

The most practical solution? - People realizing that it isn't McDonalds job to feed their fat fucking kids and themselves. 5lbs of carrots costs like 4$. That is alot of food. Try getting 5lb of food from fast food for 4$..... And they are good for you. People need to stop eating so much meat, and they definately eat too many carbs. Basically, bump up the veggies and fruits, cut out the processed shit. Walla, Presto.. instantly healthy people. Throw in exercise with proper diet and many ailments disappear.  Healthier people. (And pharmaceutical stocks will drop)

It should not be classified as a disease.

True sometimes its inherited genes being expressed.

SHOULD be a desease, people have to realize that is unhealty (In most cases), and that they can't just get fat cause they want to eat "good".

At the end is a desease, can cause death also alterates your body so it's a desease and has to be cured, of course i'm not saying that you should be skinny or flat, of course you can always have a normal belly or you know some good weight but obesity is a desease and noone should be proud of.

Oh please it's not contagious.

I know right.

It's just pathetic that they would consider obesity a disease.

And are you sure that number is reliable? It doesn't seem like 33% is an accurate number. Even in Walmart, I don't see that many obese people. Wouldn't be surprised if it were right though.
