You don't need a rank to help out. You just help out. If someone is helpful, they will be noticed with or without a rank.

this is true and there are people doing that and not getting noticed, but your statement has one problem , why cant we say that about Verified ranks, and designer ranks. just like those groups get recognized so should the people that help everyone with there problems

If you help out enough, I am sure the staff will notice and may even ask you to be on the team.

Verified is more of a community decision whether they are aware of it or not. Many people (mostly new people) care a lot about who they are trading with and whether they will be scammed or not, so they look to that rank.

Designer was not my decision, so I can't really defend it. I guess like other communities, graphic artists play a role.

As for supporter rank, we have the mod rank, which is pretty much the same, except they have powers. You can help the forums out even if you are not a mod, similar to how you can work on graphics even if you are not a designer.

Either way moderation is voluntary work.

We don't get paid for it at all (Besides when @Maldesto rewards people OUT OF HIS OWN POCKET when he doesn't have to, take into account that he has a family of his own to provide for).

We do have powers but like people have reiterated already. Ranks are not needed to help others.

The only difference is we have the ability to lock/hide/move/edit topics and can ban members; access to Mod/AdminCP as-well.

Helping people on the forums is also 'voluntary work' just without the formal perks.

If a member stumbles across a problem they themselves cannot help with due to the fact they don't possess moderator permissions.

They can simply 'report' the post if its on a thread and it appears in our report center, or private message a staff member.

Its very rare occurance for NO staff members to be active at any one time, in-fact its unheard of.

And for this reason, I'm not going to say I'm against the idea, but I'm not for it.

Neutral.

I dont mind the rank, I just dont see the point of it. If it happens, it happens. Besidrs the points I mentioned, I dont like too many ranks which there are plenty of atm. Also, at one point, soneone will use the rank to their gain.

Cata, brings up a very good point, but this rank wouldn't/ shouldn't be like a mod, it just to  recognize  someone that knows what there talking about. this rank wouldnt have these admin/mod powers and theres always times that a mod/admin isn't online

@botrs123 its not like you don't use your rank to you benefit, this rank would not be easy to achieve ofc, but your statement doesn't make sense because, because everyone uses there ranks to there own benefit, regarding the too many ranks, osbot is kinda known for that the vase amount of ranks, from scripts and programming, to market, and even design, so why not continue that

vet rank doesnt have to be a smart person or someone that helps the community just an old member

Edit: old and semi active

Experienced on the forum and active. Most if not all veterans here know their fair share of stuff and are usually very helpful as old loyal members of the community.

OT: I like the idea, could encourage people to help more

yea I wasn't flaming the vet rank just saying there's a difference from vets and "support"

I agree with the 'everyone should be helpful' thing, this seems like a 'I do a good thing, and I want everyone to know I did it' kinda thing

But then again, if somebody did have a problem, instead of going in the chat and spamming, they could PM a support person

I guess it's a +1 for me
