Apply forum ban to client

Featured Replies

I'm not sure if you can still bot with a forum account that's banned, but if you CAN, please make it so that people who are banned on the forum are also banned from the client, based on IP. They can now have a friend create an account for them on the forum and they can just log in with that to the client.

Whether you agree or disagree, use proper argumentation.
Just 'I dont support' is not enough!

Anyone can ban evade easily. You have to login the account via forum account, so if your ban evading, then chances are you won't be on the forums, which means no harm done.

They can also have a friend send them the latest version of OSBOT so they wouldn't need to access the website to download it.

This doesn't make any sense to me. Please clarify? :)

Yeah, but that's not the issue. If they are IP banned on the CLIENT and not just banned from making a new account, there's no way for them to use the client unless they use a proxy. Perhaps add a MAC ban as well, although MAC addresses are easily spoofed.

You have to login to the bot via forum account. Therefore if your banned, your obviously not going to be able to login to the bot, because its going to deny you. Ban evading (when you create another account even though your banned) is against the rules, and so is easy to do. If a person is caught ban evading, their just going to be banned again. People who are ban evading tend to not prowl the forums after their ban, therefore they aren't a harm to the community.

Thanks for explaining. I understand. However, they can still use a friend to create an account for them. That's the loophole..

This just wouldn't work; sorry.

There just isn't a way to do this, as ban evaders are inevitable. They will always find a way around it. Just like a post requirement, if there was one they would just spam 50 + posts. There is no solid way to get people to attend the forums like a lot of us do.

Your post just isn't valid without proper argumentation; sorry.

That doesn't mean we can't make it harder.

I don't think it is worth their time, they can spend their time doing something else that makes this community/bot better than trying to shut out ban evaders. They will never be stopped, and I mean never, so why make it take them an extra 5 minutes, which will take the administrators  days and beyond to figure out a way to prolong them.

Getting a person's MAC address who uses your client and comparing it with a database isn't hard.

I didn't say it should be one of their priorities.. I just feel people who disadvantage this community by scamming or otherwise, shouldn't benefit from the people who built this community.

No support on this idea, sorry.

And your arguments are what?

Edited by Gojira

Why wouldn't anyone support this. LOL.

I support. And I know there are ways to make it one hell of a time for members to ban evade.

There are tools we can get, for instance, there is a tool that a lot of forums are starting to use that will check your IP and block any VPNS/VPS's/Proxys etc.

There's a ton of procedures we can take to lower the amount of ban evaders.
