Those who have smoked it will want it legalised, those who haven't will not care. Therefore it often appears that the general opinion of marijuana leans towards the positive side.

 

However even though casual marijuana smokers will claim that it has certain benefits (or that "it's not as bad as alcohol"), I don't think that their arguments stand up to the proven mental health risks that arise. Schizophrenia, paranoia, depression, decrease in memory and learning ability, delusions, depersonalisation, bipolar psychosis - and many more.

 

Therefore I think it's fair enough that it's currently illegal - and based on the facts, I think they should keep it that way.

I can express my opinion all i want, but someone out there is always going to disagree, perhaps we are on the verge on the legalisation of cannabis, who knows? But here is my own opinion on why it should be legal.

Cannabis should be legal because alcohol is. Weed Makes you mong out, and crave any food going. Alcohol makes some violent and aggressive, and many, many, many more lives have been effected by alcohol, than cannabis (using wise) from falling over and grazing your knee, to having your stomach pumped, and (god forbid) beating your family in your own drunken rage. Yes some of those points are OTT, and its not like that for everyone, but just one of those examples, is a lot worse than what cannabis does.

If your average joe bloggs can have a beer after work, then why can't he relax with a nice joint? whilst botting on runescape, eating munch and watching some breaking bad.

Oh in addition, you americans! Weed is a bigger export than fruit and veg!

Only lives I've seen "ruined" by use of cannabis is the user. However we've all heard alcohol kills innocent bystanders quite often.
So why wouldn't weed be legal?

On another note. People shouldn't compare weed to alcohol and see if more/less positive/negative effects pop up. Weed and alcohol are two different things. I know that they are both drugs but their effect is totally unrelated. When deciding if weed should be legal one should look only at the benefits legalizing weed can provide to our society.

And what benefits does alcohol provide? Alcohol is legal, and is most likely going to stay legal for generations to come. Everyone knows how bad it is for you, and others around you; but yet it's legal? Weed is illegal, and is controversial. Nowadays most people know how weed actually hinders you, which is far less than alcohol. So why shouldn't we compare the legal, dangerous, more used drug; to the illegal, far less dangerous drug?

I think they should have spent billions of dollars on lab testing weed rather than NASA, atleast then we'd be spending tax dollars on something that benefits a great deal of the population and is a shit ton more relevant then planets. IM SO BAKED
