Edward789
Reminder: Legacy Java Client - Retirement & Shutdown 22 November 2024 This blog is a reminder that we will be retiring our Legacy Java Client – and to reiterate that other Java-based clients like RuneLite or HDOS will not be affected. A few years ago we released the C++ Client on Steam, and then the Jagex Launcher. During that time, the Java Client became known as the 'Legacy Java Client', while C++ became the 'Official Client'. Those with the Legacy Java Client installed have still been able to use it, but it is no longer available to new users via the Jagex Launcher. As we continue to invest into the Official Client with new features like Official HD, the Plugin System, and Mobile Improvements, we feel it’s time to retire the Legacy Java Client. This isn’t a decision we take lightly, but we have good reasons to do it. During our research into who was still using the Legacy Java Client, we found quite a lot of malicious activity going on. While there is a small minority of legitimate players, many more are using this Client for botting and other illicit activity. While shutting down the Legacy Java Client won’t put an end to the uphill battle against botting, it will shut down one of the easier avenues these naughty botters use. Also, there’s the issue of maintenance. As you've recently seen we have been focusing our efforts on continuing to improve the Official Client and Mobile and we wish to continue to have that as a key focus, rather than providing life support to an outdated and risky client that very few players actually use. So, from early next year, you will no longer be able to use the Legacy Java Client, even if you've previously downloaded it. If you currently play on the Legacy Java Client, you'll be receiving a player inbox message over the next couple of days alongside a few reminders on the lead up to its retirement. Soon, you’ll need to play via the Official Client, RuneLite, or HDOS. All three clients can be accessed in the Jagex Launcher, which requires a Jagex Account. As we said, for those of you playing on other Java-based clients like RuneLite or HDOS nothing will change. For those of you playing on the Legacy Java Client, look out for those reminders in your Player Inbox! The Old School Team.

If anyone is on Windows 7, i can show you how to get Jagex Launcher after Internet explorer 11 leaving ! Even when they do do this we will all have time to switch our legacy accounts over to jagex account ! n they are not stopping anyone by doing this ~ N i have faith when the day comes the devs will come out with an Alternative than just patching runelite etc! all love tho
