Music in school

Featured Replies

So heres the deal. I moved to a new highschool in a different state. In my old school we were able to listen to music before school, during lunch, after school, in classes if the work is solo, and when we're switching classes. Now that I've moved to my new school you may only listen to your iPod before school and after school. If you listen to it at any other time first you get it taken away and get a detention (parents have to pick it up). After detention they give you in school suspension, the out of school etc. The new school I moved it is more of a "ghetto" school if you get what I mean. There are constantly threats to the school etc. The grades of the school at low, compared to my other school. I'm currently getting in school suspension instead of being in my classes for listening to music while I'm switching classes. I'm about to go into the principals office tomorrow and tell her listen, the test grades are shit here for a reason. You suspend people for LISTENING to music, and I might even do some research as to how music helps calm you do and concentrate. Anyways this is my little rage statement as to how fucking retarded my new high school is.

Thoughts? Questions?

I wish I was allowed to listen to music during class, lunch.... too.

It's bullshit it aint allowed, you aint bothering anyone if it's with a headphone!

That'd be a good argument.

And the fact that it's between classes. Not even during class

It's allowed and encouraged here, we have a "ring your own device" policy in other words i can bring my laptop as long as i use it for class work

I remember in my old music class use to play money up a gambling game

In our school we can listen to music sometimes it depends on the teacher. But if the teacher see someone listening, she/he will just say to stop listening and if you continue listening she will take it away till the lesson is over.

you're welcome. we can also listen to music at any time.

For my school it's only during lunch period. If they are barely going to have it, why have it at all. so dumb

I'm not in school anymore, and havent been really much either. I jumped of because i couldnt handle all the fucked up teachers and students. But i listened to music whenever i wanted to, they never took it from me because they were happy when i was in school, YUP IM A BADASS

Just follow the rules. Or drop out and get your GED so you don't have to deal with bullshit?  back when i was in highschool i could listen to it in class. and in college i still listen to it one ear piece in keeps me calm :D

In my school years we were always allowed to bring electronic devices only to listen to music. Wether it was a phone or not, as long as we were listening to music it's fine. It also had to be at a reasonable level, where you would be the only one able to hear any of the music and at these levels you will be able to hear your name being called, or the teacher telling you to listen up.. I personally think it's BS that you can't listen to music on your Ipod. If it was a phone, yeah understood but an ipod only plays music there is no harm... Especially when you're someone like me who doesn't talk to most kids at school.
