if you are full adamant at lv.30 of course they gonna hit you, and it depends by the crab number spot. In a spot of 3 crabs you wouldn't recieve much dmg. I suggest lv.35 def at least.

Been testing with 30 defence and full adamant on a 3 spot. No problem at all.
