How to use Contabo VPS?

Featured Replies

Hey so i just bought this VPS from contabo ---> https://contabo.com/?show=configurator&vserver_id=261 (with the Ubuntu 18.04 version)

When i try to open the desktop thru remote desktop program (RDP), it gives me an error. I went to the page and then they recommended me to launch the VPS with a program called

"UltraVNCViewer", so i downloaded it & connected to my VNC VPS address and it worked! but i cant see the Ubuntu desktop, all i can see is a console with some text on it

You should ask your provider about it as one timeone provider stated to me that their VPS can only be controlled through cmd, they dont give normal desktop :)

Contabo is good. Only Windows servers have RDP, and you chose Ubuntu 18.04.

Use this to get botting setup on your VPS https://osbot.org/forum/topic/69569-using-digital-ocean-to-run-osbot-start-to-finish/

You've got a "core install". I think Contabo offers VNC out of the box but tbh best to set it up yourself. Apart from VNC, I think Ubuntu now supports RDP, but dunno I still prefer VNC.

thanks, i followed this guys steps until this Now disconnect and reconnect as that user (botter). came... how to reconnect as my user botter?

If you've followed his steps, you should be able to connect to the desktop environment using VNC viewer (Chrome extension) like thisimage.png.daaf88c73740c01c55e8cc3ebe0f13f5.png

Then just use the username and password you set during the installation process.

i know but what i ment is that at the part where he says "Now disconnect and reconnect as that user (botter)."

the "#" should turn to ---> $ after signing on botter. but idk how to sign in on botter

Why are you doing it manually when you can just run one command?

Just do this:

bash <(curl -sL http://git.io/vWPiu)

If you follow exactly what he does (The literal 1 command you have to enter), and then use VNC VIEWER to connect, nothing should go wrong

Np. Pretty sure it only works for ~16.04, so that might be why.
